KREWE du OpticBy Kaitlyn Morris
Barrett let me know that each frame is created through an extensive process in which the glasses are touched more than 100 times before hitting your face - these glasses are built to last. He ensures the best product possible by using the industry standard for quality - Zeiss lenses and hypoallergenic acetate frames. Although the actual production is too much to take on locally, so they must be manufactured overseas; all glasses are designed here in New Orleans.
There are only a few people on the KREWE team, and Barrett tells me that they are all equally important to the brand's success. They are brand new on the market, only shipping their first frames a few weeks ago. In a city with a culture as unique as New Orleans, the overall idea for the brand is that you want to wear KREWE not because it's the cool new thing, but because it fits who you are. The company also runs a New Orleans social blog, http://krewedupeople.tumblr.com/, that tells everything that's on about town.
